The Stripey Site

Vim Links

The canonical place to go for Vim-related information is The Vim Homepage, run by Sven Guckes and mirrored at the ‘obvious’ URL of http://www.vim.org/.

For Vim documentation, the Vim Reference Guide by Oleg Raisky is very handy, as is the PDF version by Nguyên-Ðai Quý. Oleg also has an excellent guide to regular expressions.

Ralf Arens has a site with a collection of Vim macros and mappings.

Peppe's Vim page contains some general information about Vim, and has a nicely-commented .vimrc, conveniently listing every possible option.

For help with a question concerning Vim, probably the best place to ask is in the newsgroup comp.editors — collectively the regular readers of that group seem to know pretty much everything there is to know about Vim. Even if you don’t have a particular question, it’s still a great group to read for learning about Vim. (Note it is a group about text editors in general, so if posting about Vim in particular be sure to make this obvious, preferably in the subject line.)

As it says in the small print at the bottom of each page, I welcome feedback. If you’ve a question about anything on this site or something doesn’t make sense or you can think of a way of improving it or whatever — please get in touch. Cheers.
